About Desert Species Preservation Center

Desert Species Preservation Center (DSPC) is a Nevada‑based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 87-1606479) that provides high‑welfare care for a collection of animal species, restores Mojave desert habitat, promotes conservation through education and connection with the public and serves our community through animal‑assisted activity programs to create safe, meaningful contact with animals.

We are committed to being a forever home for a unique and diverse collection of desert animal and plant species.
Through hands-on exhibits, educational programs, and conservation partnerships, the Desert Species Preservation Center serves both the local community and visiting public. We aim to inspire a lasting appreciation for desert ecosystems and to promote responsible stewardship of these fragile environments for generations to come.

Our approach & partnerships

Science‑led, welfare‑first: Decisions are guided by evidence and the highest standards of animal care.

Legal and ethical: Work is conducted under appropriate permits and with agency coordination.

Collaborative by design: We partner with wildlife agencies, schools, and accredited facilities.

Long‑term stewardship: DSPC is working to acquire the Camel Safari 176-acre zoo property to provide a permanent, well‑resourced base for animals and mission-based programs.

How we measure impact

We measure progress through transparent impact metrics and field stories that invite the community to join the work!
